Club Instructor (General Skills) Course – 19-20 September 2009.

(“Train the Trainer” course)

This course has been designed to train experienced club shooters to carry out probationary training and assess competence in the safe handling of firearms at their own clubs to meet the requirements of the Safe Shooting System.

The General Skills course will cover gallery rifles, ‘scoped rifles, and iron sighted rifles but will exclude target rifles and muzzle loading firearms. The NRA Club Instructor (TR) course will continue to be run for those who specialise in target rifle shooting.

The next course will be at Bisley on 19-20 September, and there is a limit of 20 places. Applications will be restricted initially to 1 per club. The closing date for applications is 27 July.

Please note that this course is only for experienced shooters who must have a current certificate of competence for the appropriate categories of firearms.

GALLERY RIFLE AND PISTOL SUB COMMITTEE

Gallery Rifle Centre Fire (GRCF) Calibres - 2009


The following are calibres that the sub committee currently consider as qualifying for use in GRCF. This is an interim list for the remainder of the 2009 season only.

.30 carbine
.32 S&W Long
.38 special
.357 magnum
9 mm
.41
.44 special
.44 magnum
.44-40
.45 ACP
.45 Colt

Please bear in mind that the muzzle velocity must not exceed 2150 ft/sec and the muzzle energy must not exceed 1496 ft. lbs.

The sub committee will be conducting a complete review of the way in which GRCF is defined in respect of types of firearm and calibres over the winter. It will publish the results of that review and the new definitions and rules in advance of the 2010 Gallery Rifle shooting season.
